The new year in Colombia is an exacting experince... we have a tradition of burning the old year or "Año Viejo" represented in a human figure. Everything starts with the construction of the doll. Someone gives his/her tshirt another person gives the trouser and so on...When the human figure is done, we take it around the neighbourhood like a dead body....We cry for the Año Viejo who is going...but at the same time everyone is happy for the Año Viejo who is going away taking with him the bad spirit.....At misnight we burn it and run aroun our houses wating for a god new year.....
